This is the second knot dress that I made with Simplicity 2171. I used organic fabric from Birch Fabric’s Marine collection. I’m really happy with how it turned out, even though no one made any adoring comments while we were showing off Ana and her dress.
Doesn’t she look so happy in her dress? Like she appreciates all my hard work and loves having a mommy who sews her special clothes! This is thanks to Shane for forcing her into it earlier that morning. I gave up in fear she would rip it to shreds with all the flailing and screeching.
Here are my notes on this second attempt: Since the smallest size is a 3, I adjusted the first dress down to a size 2. I thought the bodice was too tight though, so I used the size 3 bodice this time around. I still think it’s ill fitting though. Next time I will add about a 1/2″ to the top of the bodice so her chest isn’t so exposed when she isn’t wearing a top underneath and I will also make the top of the bodice narrower so it’s not hitting her underarm.
Here’s Caleb getting ready to march in the annual Pacific Grove Butterfly Parade. All the first graders at his school were dressed up as jelly fish. Very cute!
