I’m really proud of myself for going to the gym up until I was 39 weeks pregnant. I didn’t get to jog at all because I wasn’t in good shape to begin with, but the walking and weights were enough to keep me from getting too flabby. I never did get the giggly fat around my waist. But…
I’m starting to get it now that I’m not pregnant anymore! I can’t take Eliza to the gym until she’s 6 months old. So, I’ve worked it out with Shane that on the nights we are eating leftovers I will go out for a jog as soon as he gets home.
I’m using the Couch to 5K program. One of my fellow bus stop moms is on week 8 (out of 9) and she loves it. I did my first run of it yesterday and it was so awesome to get out of the house and exercise! Especially since the girls skipped their naps and were relentlessly whiney.
I headed over to Pebble Beach for my run because it’s very quiet and pretty. It’s actually a little creepy how quiet it is. I’m going to try to repeat the same course so I can see how much further I am able to go as the program goes along. I’m hoping to make it to the ocean at some point.
One of the most awesome things about my run is that I had my iPhone and some very cool apps. I had three apps going at the same time…
iTunes: Of course I had to have some jammin’ music. Even though it’s generally to a slow beat, I love listening to reggae when I run. It makes me happy.
Interval Run: This app has the Couch to 5K program option. It will pause the music from iTunes and let me know when I need to start walking or jogging.
iMapMyRun: This app records my route with GPS and also tells me my distance and speed.
