Most of the time Ana is like this…
I forgot to pack her toothbrush and tooth paste so my mom went and got her this Dora set. She was super excited about it. She is so appreciative and cheerful.
But she is a three year old and did get upset a few times at my mom’s house. This usually happens when we talk sternly to her and make a request without saying “please”. Her standard is covering her eyes and burying her head in the couch. Sometimes she screams “DON’T TALK TO ME!” If we left her alone, she’d be happy again in a few minutes. After having Caleb’s moodiness be the norm for so many years, I am always grateful for her sweet disposition.
She did get really upset at me on the way home though. This was about 10 minutes after we left my mom’s house.
Ana: Is Gwanny coming with us?
Me: No, Granny needs to stay at her house. But she’ll visit us for Christmas in two weeks.
Ana: Two weeks?
Me: Yup, two weeks?
Ana: But I want Gwanny.
Me: Awww, you miss Granny already?
Ana: Yes. I want Gwanny.
Me: I’m sorry but we’re going home to see Daddy and Caleb and Charlotte. Don’t you want to see them?
Ana: NO! I want Gwanny!
(At this point she tries to bury her face in the side of her car seat as best she can and then screams at me…)
Ana: I’M NOT TALKING TO YOU!
So I just leave her alone because I know this is the best way to deal with her. A few minutes later I look in the rear view mirror to check on her. She was asleep. It was 9:30 a.m.
I think that being angry is so against her nature that it tuckered her out and she then needed a nap.
Isn’t she wonderful?
