My dad is visiting and since he’s a handy guy and we’re not handy people, he’s fixing A LOT of stuff around the house. Not surprisingly, he commented that almost everything he was fixing were things that the kids had broken.
Lucky for me, my dad likes things to be clean and persnickety. He pointed out to me that the bathroom exhaust fan sounded like it was really straining and it was probably clogged up with years of dust.
So we (or rather he) took it apart and cleaned it. I never would have thought to clean something like this. Out of sight, out of mind right?
If you plan to clean your fan, make sure you have someone with you, because even though mine turned out to be pretty light, my dad said that some of them can be really heavy. You don’t want it dropping on your head.
Here’s the inside of the cover… AFTER I vacuumed it on the outside!
This exhaust fan likely had never been cleaned and so this is 20-30 years of build-up!
He used a brush to clean all the dirt off. I later found a better one with a long handle and smaller bristle head.
All cleaned up…
This is what it looks like now…
And later we went to Costco.
My favorite Costco spices! Smoked Paprika and Taco seasoning.
I made Smoked Paprika Drumsticks and Red Potatoes yesterday. I’ll post the recipe soon.
Have you ever thought to clean your bathroom exhaust fan?
What is one thing that you deep clean that you think a lot of people probably don’t think about?
What is your favorite Costco item?
Do you circle Costco sample stations until they are ready or do you give up and keep moving?
