Yesterday’s treadmill run wasn’t too bad despite forgetting my chapstick (agggghhhhh!) and my towel (eeewwwww!).
I did 8 minutes at 12 min/mile pace (warm up), 12 minutes at 11 min/mile pace (run), and 5 minutes at 12 min/mile pace. Total 24 minutes.
I’m struggling to be happy with my slow progress.
Starting Thursday I’m going to wake up really early, get to the gym, run, stretch, weight train with my trainer and be back home in time for Shane to head out to work.
I’m curious to see if running on the treadmill will be more enjoyable before my weight training. Although, I’ve never much liked working out in the morning, so I’m not too confident it will be.
But when you’re a crafty homeschooling runner mom of four, you do what you gotta do.
A little morning summer fog that thankfully burned off by lunch. But I do so love a foggy morning. Feels cozy and dreamy to me.
I didn’t get a chance to tell you about my trail run on Sunday! It was the first time in about 6 weeks that I ran outside. I used my new Garmin GPS watch and I’m so happy I got it. I set the screen to show pace and time. It was helpful that I didn’t get to see the distance since I tend to want to push it when I do.
The plan was 8 min. slow run (warm-up), 12 min. run, 7 min. slow run (cool-down).
I had decided I was going to stick to a 12 mpm pace for my warm up. I took off and even though it felt slow, I was going 10.5 mpm. Running outside feels so much better than the treadmill! I feel like I say that a lot.
I got to the trail right at 8 minutes and since it’s a steady climb from there, I wasn’t able to speed up. But I got so winded and ended up turning around 1 min. before I had previously planned to. But I kept moving and didn’t walk until my 27 minutes was up.
The last time I ran the same trail, I was able to go a good bit further. I have definitely lost some of my endurance. But I’m excited to go again this weekend and see how much I’ve improved!
