I think I’m going to have to declare this a fail. Never mind that this fabric is way to stiff. I know I was just making a muslin, but it still makes it difficult to see if this dress would be more flattering with a more drapey material.
It’s comfortable. But it’s so… blah. It makes me look like I have no curves. Which, honestly, I really don’t have, but I was nursing at the time of this picture so I had more curves here than I do now. I’m afraid to try it on now. I’d probably look like I was 12 years old. Although, seems like nowadays most 12 year olds are at least 2 cup sizes bigger than me. Anyway, I digress. At least a flat chest is good for running.
I tried tying the belt right under my bust to give me more shape. I think this looks way better, but I thought it looked a bit like a maternity dress.
And then I saw this in the Oct/Nov 2011 issue of Vogue Patterns…
See that? Maternity wear. I also have the other pattern on the left. Might be rethinking that one.
Lesson learned: If the shapeless model on the front of the pattern looks shapeless, you will too.
