Last week’s UFO: Riley Blake February Mystery Quilt Block
I was really not looking forward to this one. I can be quite fearless when it comes to trying new craft techniques. But sometimes, I get so apprehensive about trying something new. I love how paper piecing looks, but the method, with the willy-nilly lines bug me. It was difficult to know if I cut the pieces big enough.
Turns out paper piecing is easy. I did end up recutting four pieces because they weren’t big enough. It seemed like a waste of fabric. Especially because this is the very first time ever that I’ve used my beautiful stash of Kaffe Fassett fabric.
I only got so far as sewing all the pieces. The Riley Blake video tutorial suggested several different ways to apply the applique. I didn’t bother watching because I already know how I want to do it. But that’s for another post.
Next week’s UFO: Little Red Riding Hood felt doll
This is another Ginger Melon pattern. I love her doll patterns. She offered a daily pattern for 50% off in December and so now I have about 20 of her patterns. I know. I’m bad. And the really silly about that is that these dolls are not suitable for toddlers. The first doll I made (you can see here) is not in very good shape after being loved so much. I had to put her away for some repairs.
I also made a Santa Christmas ornament. hmmm… now I’m remembering I want to make a lot of them throughout the year to give away as presents. I better get on that…
