My dad was able to demolish the stairs today. We noticed a problem–this huge tree root, from a 100+ ft. Monterey Pine, was under the stairs. We had wondered why someone had put stairs here. It’s really an awful place and it was huge. Well this is why. Yet another thing about my home that didn’t make any sense. Until it did.
We thought it was just one big root going from the high corner on the upper right to the lower corner on the lower left. Turns out we were wrong. This wrong…
Obviously it can’t be cut out. But actually, I kinda love it. The plan right now is to fill the lower left corner in with cement so the kids won’t fall in there when riding their bikes. The rest of the area I’ll fill with river rocks and succulents. It’ll be a tree root/rock garden! I have to wait until my dad is completely done with the yard so it might be a few months.
I should have gotten a picture of Caleb working. He worked hard. Unfortunately, he complained just as much, which ruined our good impression. We had a talk about relationships being “give and take.” You can’t just take and take and take. Well you can, but eventually the person will feel like a sucker and stop giving. If we want Grandpa to keep working on our yard, we have to give in whatever way we can. For me, I do a little work outside but mostly I cook. Like these delicious Spam musubi for a mid-day snack. What Caleb has to offer is hard work.
But later that night I realized
UGH!! And I really was getting to a good point. But people keep interrupting me! And I like to think. Think about my thoughts and every time I get interrupted, it takes me a while to get back into my thought in the exact right place I was when I was interrupted!! And this is why I quit blogging.
But I won’t quit today. I’ll just complain and move on. Anyway, it’s time to get dressed and see what Day 3 has in store.
