Eliza owns the road. Thank goodness we live at the end of a street. Do I say that a lot? It’s something that I’m thankful for at least a dozen times a day.
Today, I realized that Halloween is in two weeks! Our newest Lego set, the Ewok Village, has inspired us to dress up in Star Wars costumes this year. I tried shopping online and got so frustrated, so we headed out to Party City. I love internet shopping for the convenience, but sometimes I just want to touch and feel something before I buy it.
The plan was for Caleb to be a storm trooper or clone trooper, Shane – Darth Vader, me – Princess Leia, Ana – Yoda and Charlotte – an Ewok. Unfortunately, they only had a clone trooper and Darth Vader. I’ll have to order mine online.
The girls couldn’t resist all the princess stuff. And because I’m the biggest sucker around, I bought them dresses, shoes, a wand and tiara. Thank goodness they didn’t want to wear the wigs.
Of course, they immediately got all dressed up and ran outside to play in the forest. They’re friend had a great idea to build a fort. She told me she got the idea from Curious George.
As Joanna so nicely put it: Love the dichotomy between princess and explorer. This is what being a kid is all about. How lucky they are to have the freedom to be anything they want. Colorful, frilly, adventurous and strong.
Are you prepared for Halloween?
Are you dressing up? If so, what as? And your kids?
Do you have an adventurous girly girl?
