I received a box of Vega Sport Pre-workout Energizer in Acai Berry flavor from Vega and Fit Approach. Vega has a new campaign going on right now called Fuel Your Better. It’s actually perfect timing for me. Because I’ve been better.
Up until a few weeks ago, I was on a run streak. For 43 days I ran at least 1 mile every day. It was really good for me. When something in life throws me off track, I tend to stop running.
So doing the streak helped me to keep going. It’s more difficult to convince yourself that you don’t have the time or energy to run when it’s just 1 mile. Even if I’m lazy about it, it takes only 12 minutes!
But something did throw me off track enough to make me stop running. I’ve only run three times in the last two weeks. So, I shouldn’t have been surprised the other day when I pulled on the Lucy running pants I wear every week and discovered a belly roll hanging over the waist band. That didn’t take long.
After I whined to Joanna and chatted about how I should really get it together, I spotted my box of Preworkout Energizer on the kitchen counter. So I promptly fixed myself a glass and then did Blogilate’s Food Baby workout, ten burpees and 1-mile on the treadmill.
This morning I ran 2.5 miles on treadmill. Eliza has been in a big girl bed for the last three nights and woke me up at 5:51, 6:08 and 5:27 a.m. Before this, I hadn’t woken up before 7am in well over a month.
I usually hate running in the morning. I start off feeling sluggish and never seem to shake that feeling off. So I tried out the Pre-workout Energizer and it really did help to wake me up. Shane always takes a Gu before heading out to the gym in the morning. But I like the Preworkout Energizer mix because it gets me to drink water. I’m so bad about drinking water.
I also have been drinking it on days when the 2 p.m. sleepy time hits. Does that happen to you guys? During the day I’ll feel an overwhelming urge to fall asleep and I’ll think “It must be 2 o’clock.” And it always is! I find that the Pre-workout Energizer is much better than having another cup of coffee. It wakes me up and I feel like being productive whereas the coffee leaves me feeling more like a zombie that had a great nap.
The Preparation: It does take some vigorous shaking to mix. At first I mixed it in a cup but it wouldn’t completely dissolve. So now I shake it up in a water bottle. I also like to prepare one ahead of time and leave it in the fridge. It seems to dissolve a lot better after it’s sat for a little while.
The Taste: Really good. It’s not overly sweet, which I appreciate. I am always surprised at how quickly I’m able to guzzle it down.
The Effect: Every time I’ve had the Pre-workout Energizer, it has given me a nice boost in energy but didn’t give me a weird jittery feeling. I’ve actually had a preworkout energizer that made my legs and arms tingle and I *had* to run or I would have gone crazy! Thankfully, this Vega Sport energizer is all natural and the resulting effect reflects that.
