Have you ever had one of those weeks? Where something goes wrong everyday. And you can’t wait for the week to be over. And then the week is over, but stuff keeps going wrong. And you find yourself trying to keep things in perspective by thinking about how great it is that there haven’t been any trips to the emergency room or how the house hasn’t burned down or how we haven’t been attacked by zombies. So really, things aren’t THAT bad. It could always be worse.
But I am me and I need to whine sometimes. So last week, I broke my serger. I was scared to sew with knits because I never had. But the guy at my sewing shop and my friend Stephanie said “There’s nothing to be scared of! It’s easy! Just do it!” And so I just did it. And I broke my serger.
And then I got neutral feedback from a seller on Etsy. I had bought fabric from her and let her know that I did not appreciate waiting 2 weeks before she decided to mail it out and did not understand why the brown with white polka dot fabric that she advertised as Japanese said “Robert Kaufman” on the selvedge. Apparently, she didn’t appreciate me complaining. I hadn’t planned on leaving any feedback at all since I didn’t want to make her feel bad. It was all very upsetting but we worked it out and she changed it to positive.
And then I got a call from Bella’s real owners. This worked out amazingly well since the lady has her sister and doesn’t like Bella so much because she keeps making poo in her kitchen sink. So she agreed to let us have her. But I am still having a yucky dirty feeling about stealing someone’s cat. Even if it was accidentally.
And then Bulldozer (the hamster) escaped from his cage again. We still haven’t found him.
And then Ana climbed our 4 ft. fence and chased Bella up the street a couple houses. She did that about 7 times.
And then Caleb got sick on Friday and had to stay home from school, which spoiled my plan to take my serger up to San Jose (an hours drive) to get fixed. I still haven’t been able to take it up to San Jose. But doesn’t he look cute all sick and cuddled up with Ana?
We did have a great Halloween though! And I managed to finish their trick-or-treat bags. I had a hard time with the seams though since my serger is out of commission. It’s amazing how quickly one becomes reliant on a serger. I ended up doing french seams, which they didn’t even notice!
And here’s what kind of week Charlotte had. Totally and completely oblivious. Just the way it should be.
