This was my first time to Garland Ranch out in Carmel Valley. There was a bridge at the start of the trail and nice little creek. Beautiful way to start off the hike!
My friend and I took our 6 six girls, ages 16 months to 14 years old. I still don’t have a hiking child carrier so the older girls helped me carry Eliza some of the way. Ana and Charlotte did a great job walking the entire thing.
The meadows were brown and dry but they are filled with lupines in the spring. I will definitely be back to see them. It was a nice easy hike so I should be able to take the girls by myself.
The kids found a lot of these huge Sycamore leaves.
This is hike #66 from my Monterey Hikes list.
Hiking distance: 1.4 mile round trip
Hiking time: 35 minutes (actually took us 1.5 hours)
Elevation gain: 100 feet
Exposure: open meadows
Hiking buddies: Laura and our girls.
Would you do it again? Yes, in the spring to see the lupines.
