I’m going to try to do a weekly running summary. This was my first week of official target heart rate training. I’m so happy to have a target heart range for each run. I like rules and numbers (hello accounting degree!) so this makes me insanely happy.
Last Sunday I watched a documentary called Vegucated while I ran 5 miles on the treadmill. (Although that’s not technically part of this week’s running, I wanted to tell you about it anyway.) It’s about three New Yorkers that agreed to go vegan for six weeks. Very very good!! I highly recommend watching this. I was a little disappointed that besides some blood test results, the entire angle was on the environmental and animal treatment aspect of veganism. Since this isn’t why I went vegan, I was hoping to learn about some of the health changes that they experienced, but it was barely discussed. Despite this, I was thoroughly distracted from the fact that I had run for 58 minutes on the treadmill.
I went to the dentist on Tuesday and the dental hygienist suggested I watch Orange is the New Black. She did warn me that it’s quite graphic with the lesbian love and she wasn’t kidding. But the stories of how some of the women got incarcerated is interesting. I like the show… but… I do wish they could have made the “love” scenes more subtle. I was reminded of Game of Thrones, which is actually much much worse. Those 10-second interludes of soft p0rn always catch me by surprise. And I think it’s totally unnecessary. I have something truly amazing and it’s called an “imagination”.

It was really hard to keep my heart rate below 154 bpm. Moving at 4.0 mph was really uncomfortable. It’s possible to speed walk but it’s uncomfortably fast. But it’s also uncomfortably slow for a jog. I’m really hoping to see some improvements with my heart rate next week.
Didn’t run cause I was out all day. I’m going to try running only during the weekday. You’d think it would be easier to run since Shane is home on the weekend. But it’s not. We’re either going out doing family stuff or I’m off visiting family with kids who I can’t leave for an hour to do my run. It’s really frustrating. But hopefully this schedule change will make it easier for me to get things done.
How was your week of running?
Have you ever watched Orange is the New Black or Game of Thrones?
Do you agree that modern shows could do without all the graphic “love” scenes? Or am I a prude?
Do you think it’s easier or more difficult to run on the weekend?
